Bringing in the Bystander© is an evidence-informed violence prevention program that focuses on students as active bystanders and emphasizes intervention as part of their responsibility to the greater community. Recently discussed in the New York Times, it is the only prevention program with research showing positive changes in bystander behavior around preventing sexual violence up to one year after participating in the program.
This training is for students who wish to become peer educators or faculty/staff/administrators who want to provide advising for a program like Bringing in the Bystander© aiming to prevent sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking at Vassar College starting in Fall 2014. There are 20 spots for students available and 10 spots for faculty/staff/administrators. The training will take place on Sunday, May 4th from 9 AM – 5 PM. If you have any questions, please email Elizabeth Schrock at firstname.lastname@example.org.
